Estefania N. Maldonado
MEET THE ARTIST BEHIND HER ORIGINAL CREATIONS
Estefania Nasato Maldonado is the name of this beautiful and charismatic 24-year-old girl with Down Syndrome, Venezuelan by birth with a great passion for art and painting.
With an enormous interest in the arts from an early age, Estefania grew up cultivating her natural talents. Combining colors and achieving surprising effects in her drawings with great ease, her parents and brothers facilitated her learning process by guiding her through the fascinating world of art. Cheerful, outgoing, and very loving, she enjoys making friends and talking about her favorite artists, musicians, and models. She likes to listen to music, dance, apply makeup, and sing; but her greatest passion is drawing and painting.
Although she has always been driven by art, Estefania began designing and painting glass bottles at the beginning of 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdowns. It was also during this time that her social media pages were created in hopes of showing the world her techniques. In bottles, she finds a new canvas to express her ingenuity and imagination. Currently, her paintings are inspired by landscapes, abstracts, and modern art—especially works that take advantage of unique materials, techniques, and uses of color.
Thanks to the large number of followers her page has had on Instagram, she was invited to participate at the “Venezuela Art Fest” in New York City, an initiative of a group of talented young Venezuelan painters, sculptors, and plastic artists. Estefania participated with her collection “Colores de mi Tierra,” showcasing her roots and nationality. She has also participated as a facilitator in a “Talent and Creativity” activity organized by Houston based “Cambio de Planes Fundación”, where she received praise from attendees for demonstrating the multitude of techniques and materials used in her process of painting glass bottles. Her work has also been featured in bazaars and festivals in her local Houston community.
Through her original creations we can appreciate her great passion for painting and drawing. Her bottles are akin to small art sculptures, showcasing her intensely unique perspective through her use of color, composition, and materials.
Recently, she was called to participate in the second edition of the Venezuelan Art Fair, where she has chosen to paint landscapes and abstract art. She hopes that everyone will find her medium as fascinating as she does.
